About the Speakers

Phil Rucker ‘06 just won the White House Correspondent’s association award for “overall excellence in White House reporting during his tenure as White House bureau chief of the Washington Post. He is co-author of “A Very Stable Genius” with his colleague Carol Leonnig and known for his ability to withstand with complete calm cutting personal attacks from President Trump.

Zeke Miller ‘11 currently serves as White House Bureau chief for the Associated Press. Previously he served in the same capacity for Time Magazine. As current President of the White House Correspondents Association, he bore the brunt of battles with the Trump White House over press access, and adequate Covid protection for White House reporters at a time when the White House was declining to require wearing of masks in the White House complex.

Jane Mayer '77 is the chief Washington correspondent for the New Yorker Magazine. She is a well known investigative journalist who wrote both Dark Money—an investigation the sources of vast anonymous political donations, and The Dark Side—an investigation into the seamier aspects of the War on Terror. She also wrote Landslide-an examination of the Iran-contra era of the Reagan presidency containing a prescient discussion of the 25^th amendment. Recently she has written on the problems faced by journalists in the current “post-truth” political environment.
